SCULPTURE EXPLORATION

"I remember a Kodak Instamatic that appeared every time we went on holiday or had a family gathering. The rest of the time it resided in the “everything drawer” in the kitchen, alongside lightbulbs, batteries, pieces of string, marker pens, clothes pegs and all the other detritus of family life. The idea that it could be taken out, loaded up with cheap film and used to record my everyday life never occurred to me. This is now a source of deep regret.

this  sculpture module started out for me looking out for a connection between 3-D and monuments, monuments of people and peoples memory. I had spent a lot of time after my grandparents passed going through there belongings and thinking of how these objects held their individual memory. to me this is a lovely thought. the thought that a personal belonging could have an "essence" of a person.

I wanted to explore this in this sculpture module.

During the process of exploring the sculpture module we began by taking inspiration from several objects with different shapes and connecting these objects together to make a new shape.I liked this as it started to make us make new connections in form and shape. I tested out a small maquette piece and looked at cardboard and chicken wire to create a wave form. I really enjoy this way of working through materials and experiencing different ways things can work together.
